Male shank adapters: Better suited for drifting, tunneling, and extension applications where high bending stresses are present.
Female shank adapters: Used when drilling space is limited and total feed length is important (e.g., underground roof bolting).
Function: Transmits rotation torque, feed force, impact energy, and flushing medium to the drill string.

Shank adapters are designed to withstand the high impact power of modern rock drills. Around 300 different shank adapters suitable for different rock drills are currently available, compatible with various series drifters.
