The Retract Button Bit redefines drilling technology through a suite of innovative features, each engineered to solve specific industry challenges:
At the core of the product is its proprietary retractable button system – the first of its kind in the market. Unlike fixed-button bits, the Retract Button Bit’s tungsten carbide cutting buttons automatically retract into the bit body when not under drilling load.
When pressure is applied during drilling, the buttons extend fully to maximize contact with the formation, ensuring optimal penetration. This dynamic mechanism shields the buttons from abrasion during non-operational moments.
Each cutting button is forged from a high-grade tungsten carbide alloy with a Rockwell hardness rating of HRC 68 – 12% harder than standard carbide used in fixed-button bits.
To further enhance durability, the buttons are coated with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer, which resists corrosion even in moisture-rich or chemical-heavy environments like saltwater drilling or acid-rich mineral formations.
Clogging is a major cause of reduced drilling efficiency and bit failure. The Retract Button Bit features spiral flutes with a 19° helix angle.
Engineered using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to maximize airflow and debris removal. This design ensures that rock chips, soil, and dust are quickly expelled, preventing overheating even in high-clay or wet formations.
Hard rock drilling generates intense vibration that can crack bits and damage rig components. The Retract Button Bit incorporates a shock-absorbing core made from a titanium-nickel alloy composite.
This extends the bit’s lifespan and reduces wear on the drilling rig’s motor, drill rods, and hydraulic systems, lowering overall maintenance costs.
The Retract Button Bit fits all major drilling rig brands. It is available in diameters ranging from 38mm to 127mm.
Suitable for applications including blast hole drilling, exploration drilling, production drilling, tunnel construction, and foundation drilling.
